Michael Fairchild, AIA, NCARB, LEED® AP

Michael Fairchild, AIA, NCARB, LEED® AP, has more than 40 years of experience as an architect, Owner’s construction manager, general contractor, construction consultant, and educator. He is a licensed Texas architect, a qualified Florida general contractor, a LEED® accredited professional, and an OSHA authorized construction trainer. He has worked for various companies during his career, such as Beran & Shelmire Architects, HKS Architects, the Trammell Crow Hotel Company, Hilton Hotels, Embassy Suites Hotels, and Fairfield Development. At Fairfield, he was the Vice-President of Construction managing the construction activities of the company’s staff building high-rise apartments and condominiums. For the past nine years, he has provided professional services through his consulting company, MwF.Buildingsmith.LLC, for developers and architects, plus expert witness review and reporting for attorneys. In 2009, he started teaching part-time at the University of Texas, Arlington, as an adjunct lecturer. Presently, he is an Associate Professor of Practice working on his second year as a full-time faculty member teaching construction management courses in the Department of Civil Engineering. He entered the construction industry in 1967 as a laborer at the age of 15. During college, he worked for Texas Bitulithic during the summer and winter breaks constructing highways and bridges.
